Marvin was united in marriage to Cecile Mae Hutchison on October 29, 1930 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Neola. After their marriage they farmed in the areas of Missouri Valley, Honey Creek, Hazel Dell and Persia. He had one son and four daughters with Cecile Mae Hutchison between 1931 and 1944.
Their five children were, Bernice Rose-1931, Mildred Ione-1932, Mary Jane-1935, Duane Marvin-1938 and Eileen Maxine-1944.
He died on July 16, 1993, in Persia, Iowa, at the age of 87, and was buried there.
