Rites Friday for T-5 Donald Todd
New Richmond Youth Was Killed in France
Funeral servcies will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for Technician Fifth Grade Donald K. Todd, of New Richmond, who was killed in action near Mortain, France, Aug. 12, 1944. The body of T-5 Todd is due to arrive in Linden from overseas Thursday afternoon at 4:52 o'clock. Rev. Arthur A. Schenck, of New Richmond, pastor of the Methodist church, will be in charge of the service. Burial will be in the New Richmond cemetery. Friends may call at the residence of T-5 Todd's parents after seven o'clock Thrusday evening to pay their respects. Born July 31, 1924, T-5 Todd was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Todd. He was graduated from New Richmond high school with the class of 1942. Prior to his enlistment March 8, 1943, Todd was employed by the Alumnum of Lafayette. T-5 Todd was sent overseas early in his service, and was serving as battalion clerk in Headquaters company of the 112th Infantry, attached to the famous 28th Divison. He had just passed his 20th birthday when kileld in action. He was buried in the U.S. military cemetery at LeChene Guerin, France. The first New Richmond youth to lose his life in World War II, the recently formed New Richmond post of the American Legion was named the Todd post in honor of T-5 Todd and Pfc. Charles W. Todd, formerly of new Richmond, who met death Jan. 30, 1945 in France. Frank H. Todd, father of T-5 Todd, was elected teh first commander of the newly formed post. He was a World War I veteran.
