She was born June 28, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was the daughter of Walter and Ernestine (Kriofsky) Luthy. Dorothy was raised and educated in Brooklyn.
She was employed for many years in a local physician's office in Brooklyn while raising her family. She was also an avid supporter and volunteer of the Blind Player's Club of Suffern, N.Y., which provided summer camping experiences for blind children.
Dotty, as she was affectionately called by family and friends alike, enjoyed simple pleasures, spending time with children and grandchildren, always ready to lend a helping hand, listening to music with Fred, as well as keeping up with family events and abreast of the politics of the day. She and Fred spent many summers as seasonal campers at Harbor Hill Campground in Meredith, where they enjoyed lake activities and visitors.
Surviving family members include four loving daughters, Janet Feger and her husband, John, of New City, N.Y., Dorothy Buzinski and her husband, Edward, of Dover, Linda Sohan and her husband, William, of Fishkill, N.Y., and Marilynn Schnatter and her husband, Arthur, of Suwanee, Ga. She also leaves behind a beloved niece, Lorraine Davis and her husband, Steven, of Ogdensburg, N.J. She was the cherished grandmother of Andrew and Allison Feger, Amy Buzinski Gift, David, Timothy and Lauren Buzinski, William, Brian and Brendan Sohan, Christine Sinacore, Scott Schnatter, and eight great-grandchildren. Many adoring nieces and nephews and three sisters-in-law also survive her.
She was the beloved wife (64 years) of Frederick Otten, who died December 2006.
Four brothers, Walter, Harold, Edward and Fred, and four sisters, Grace, Dorothea, Helen Brehm and Florence O'Connell, predeceased her.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Thomas Decker and staff and Seacoast Hospice for the care and compassion afforded to Dotty and her family.
A graveside service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover, on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. with Chaplain Michael Stephens, Seacoast Hospice, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seacoast Hospice, 642 Central Ave., Dover, NH 03820.
