Mrs. Sarah J. Watson, widow of the late George Watson of Montesano, died last Friday, 29 Jul 1904, at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Frank Figge, in Stirling City, California. Mrs. Watson, who had gone to California a few weeks ago seeking relief from asthma, was taken ill with pneumonia, but was thought to be recovering. Friday morning she grew suddenly worse and died about nine o'clock.
The body was brought to Montesano by Ora Watson, son of Charles Watson of this city. The two daughters in California were unable to come on account of sickness.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church by the Revs. E. H. Shelley and F. D. Hutton. There was a large attendance of friends and acquaintances, who followed the earthly remains to their last resting place in Wynooche cemetery.
Sarah J. Miller was born near Columbus, Indiana, 25 Mar 1839. She went with her parents to Chariton, Lucas county, Iowa, in 1854. Was married to George S. Watson, 1 Jan 1860. They moved to Beloit, Kansas, in 1871, and to Chehalis county, Washington, in Sep 1883.
Mrs. Watson embraced Christianity in early youth and was an earnest faithful christian to the time of her death. She left three sons, and six daughters, to mourn the death of a kind and devoted mother. The sons are Charles J. and Frank O. of Centralia, and Geo. O. of Aberdeen. The daughters are Mrs. H. B. Garner, Mrs. Jasper M. Fry, Mrs. L. N. Holbourne, Mrs. D. O. Wilkie and Miss Belle Watson of Montesano, and Mrs. Frank Figge of Stirling City, California.
