SOUTH THOMASTON - Richard P. Hodsdon, 79, of South Thomaston died April 29 at a Portland hospital. he was born at Yarmouth Aug. 26, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hodsdon. He was a member of the Rockland Congregational Church and was active in youth groups. He was a graduate of Colby College. He was a veteran of both World War I and World War II. he was a retired U.S. Navy Lieutant Commander. He is survived by a grandson Richard Spaulding Hodsdon of Alexanderia, Va., a sister, Mrs. Helen Fiske of Helena, Mont., a brother Herbert S. Hodsdon of Standish. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Burpee Funeral Home Rockland with the Rev. Charles R. Monteith officiating. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, South Thomaston.

SOUTH THOMASTON - Lt. Cmdr. Richard Prince Hodsdon, 79, (USN ret) died Wednesday in a Portland hospital. He was born in Yarmouth, Aug. 26, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hodsdon. he was a graduate of Colby College and a veteran of World Wars 1 and 2, serving as a teacher of mathematics and navigation. He was a member of the Rockland Congrational Church and active in youth groups. Surviving are a grandson Richard Spaulding Hodsdon of Alexandria, Va., a sister, Mrs. Helen Fiske of Helena, Mont.; and a brother, Herbert S. Hodsdon of Standish. His wife Agnes, died in 1962 and a son, lt. (jg) Richard S. Hodsdon died in 1949 while on active duty. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Burpee Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles R. Monteith officiating, and interment will be in Village Cemetery, South Thomaston.
