She was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Deerton, Mich., and was the daughter of Albert and Olga (Blake) Maki. The former Saima Maki married Karlo Juhola on Aug. 25, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1997.
Saima was employed as a seamstress in Ishpeming for many years. She moved from Marquette County to Escanaba in 2007. Saima W. Johola is survived by: son, Jason (Kim ) Juhola of Gladstone; daughter, Cindy Beers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Ethan, Katherine and Ryan Juhola; brothers, Toivo Maki of Marquette, Bill Maki of Chocolay; sisters, Elaine Mitchell of Waterford, Mich. and Mariam Butcher of Livonia, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Karlann Weirtz; brothers Ownie, Hugo, Raymond, George and Leo Maki and sisters Eva Lesterson, Jennie Barkovich and Liala Tyynisma.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm Tuesday 27, 2012, at the Bishop Noa Home Chapel in Escanaba. A memorial funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bishop Noa Home Chapel, with Rev. Terri Branstrom officiating. Burial will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
