Mrs. Basham was born at Streeter in Summers County, December 25, 1911. She was a daughter of the late G.W. "Wash" and Louie Belle Vest Pack. She was a paternal granddaughter of Samuel and Rhoda Ann Cooper Pack and a maternal granddaughter of Charles and Mary Jane Harvey Vest.

Mrs. Basham was the widow of Guy W. Basham to whom she was married in 1931, he passed away on February 20, 1970. She was also preceded in death by a son, Billy R. She and her late husband moved to White Oak in the 1940's, where he expanded his timber business and organized Basham Brothers Inc. which dealt primarily in mining timbers and rock dust and related items. The business became quite prosperous but neither Mr. or Mrs. Basham ever forgot where they came from.

After the death of her husband and his brother, Mrs. Basham served as president of the corporation until it was dissolved. She enjoyed gardening and canning.

As a young wife and mother Mrs. Basham was born again and united with the Little Primitive Baptist Church at Jumping Branch by baptism in 1939. She remained a faithful attendant as long as she lived.

Mrs. Basham is survived by two daughters, Betty Boothe of White Oak and Brenda Pack and husband Barrie also of White Oak. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
