Jazz Musician. Born in Squantum, a neighborhood of Quincy, Massachusetts, he started out as a drummer, However, his parents decided he needed a diverse musical background, and provided him with a trumpet while he was still in high school. Found to be a natural at the instrument, this led to his assignment to first chair in the school orchestra playing classical music. At the advice of his neighbor, he attended a concert given by jazz musician Stan Kenton, which would influence him greatly to turn towards jazz. Starting a new band called "Chase", he recorded new music mixing rock music with jazz. His hit singles called "Get It On" and "Open Up Wide" was a favorite for High School marching bands.
