The records of Laurel Hill Cemetery in San Francisco show that Henry Payot purchased a burial plot on Sept. 20, 1890. The D.A.R. survey of Laurel Hill (1935) lists one marker, "PAYOT" no names or dates. Laurel Hill Cemetery was closed in 1937 and all of the remains had to be relocated. The majority were re-interred in a mass grave site at Cypress Lawn Cemetery; however, some families paid for individual burial plots.
