The cemetery office has no record of this person at Mt Evergreen. Unfortunately, the fire in 1929 took out all the records including those without markers, so we don't have a complete list. When they walked and recorded burials, those without markers are lost.
Persis HIGBEE was the oldest child born to Isaac HIGBEE and Rebeckah PHELPS.
She married Luther HISCOCK on 7 Mar 1832 in Pompey, Onondaga Co., New York, per family bible in possession of a family member.
They had 7 children, all born in Pompey. One died young, four of them moved "west" - to Michigan at different times, and two remained in New York.
1. David Alonson HISCOCK 1833–1908
2. Rebecca DY HISCOCK 1834–1841
3. Mary E HISCOCK Fisher 1836–1885
4. Sarah HISCOCK Bush 1838–1909
5. Higbee Phelps HISCOCK 1840–1911
6. Rebecca HISCOCK Hotaling 1844–1881
7. Richard HISCOCK 1846–1925
Sometime after 1870 and after her mother died in 1869 in Pompey, she and Luther and their oldest son who never married then moved to Michigan also.
They lived in several places in Michigan: Livingston, Jackson, Ionia, Clinton, Montcalm, and Mecosta Counties. (Not in order, we need to check with deed records and tax records to confirm their residency and when).
After Luther died in 1879, Persis lived with her daughter Rebecca Hotaling and her family until she died in 1881. Persis then lived with her daughter Sarah Bush.
A family letter indicated that Persis Hiscock died on 4 Aug 1896 in Morley, Mecosta Co., Michigan. We've been unable to find the death record anywhere in Michigan.
