Allen was the third child of Nehemiah and Sarah (Goodwin) Andrus of New Hartford, CT. He married his first wife Maria Mudge in Wolcott, Seneca, NY on 15 Sep 1815. Allen and Maria had six children,: Delia, Jarvis Mudge, Mary, Cordelia, Charlotte and Chester. Maria died in 1835. Allen lived for a while in Huron, Wayne, NY and then moved to Starkey, Yates, NY about 1850. He married his second wife, Calista around that time. There only child was George A. Andrews.
