He was the son of William Campbell GOLLAN and Margaret Jane (nee FRATER).

In 1881 the family appeared on the census of Fortingall, Perthshire, Scotland.

On the 1891 census the family was living in Falkirk Burgh, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

At age 21 he departed from Glasgow, Scotland on the ship Buenos Ayrean and arrived on 23 Sep 1900 in Quebec City, Canada.

By 1903 he had married Sadie Evalyn RAY and they appeared on the 1910 census of Oakland, Alameda County, California with one son.

In 1920 they appeared on the census of San Francisco, California with 2 sons.

His wife Sadie died on 29 Jun 1925.

On 6 December 1926 he became a naturalized American citizen.

By 1940 he had married Anna and they appeared on the census of Novato, Marin County, California.

He died @67y2m3d with N. Gray and Company as the funeral home in charge of his entombment on 10 December 1946.
