Violet B. Acheson (McQuiston), 97, Eau Claire, Wis., died Monday, Nov. 19, at Syverson Lutheran Home, Eau Claire, where she was a resident.
She was born Jan. 25, 1915, the daughter of Herman and Ellen McQuiston in Buffalo County.
She married William A. Acheson on July 18, 1931. They moved to Hillsdale in 1956, where she lived until the death of her husband in 1972. She later moved to Eau Claire, where she helped raise her grandson, Kim.
She was proud of her husband and eight sons, all of whom volunteered for military service, including in peacetime and several war theatres.
Her husband served during World War I and II, her oldest son, William, during the Korean War, sons David, Cliff and Daniel during the Vietnam War, James during the first Gulf War, Dean during the Vietnam War (non-combat) and Glenn and Alvin during peacetime.
Surviving are sons Alvin, James, David, Clifford, Dean and Daniel; a daughter Elsie; a grandson Kim; and 15 other grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, sons William H. and Glenn and daughters Viola and Darlene.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for spring in Menomonie.
