Lila K. Bloomer, 75, of Danville, passed away at 3:15 PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

Lila was born on January 12, 1937 in Pattonsburg, IL the daughter of George E. and Viola E. (Miller) Martin.

She married Billy Bloomer on December 19, 1969 in Pattonsburg, IL. He survives.

She is survived by one son- Patrick (Sophia) Bloomer of Wake Forest, NC, one daughter- Kelly (Steven) Powell of Danville, one brother- Douglas (Leatha) Martin of Richmond, TX, one sister- Colleen Morris of Toluca, IL and five grandchildren- Jessica Powell, Andrew Powell, Gavin Bloomer, Melissa Van Rensburg and Reynhardt Van Rensburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Lila got her Bachelor's degree in special education from the University of Illinois in 1958. She began her teaching career for the Department of Defense in Japan and Newfoundland. From 1962 -1969 she taught at Rolling Acres Elementary School in Peoria, IL. She moved to the Danville area in 1973 and began teaching for District #118 in 1974 until she retired in 2000.

She was a member of the Bismarck First Church of Christ.

Lila was a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association and National Education Association. She loved gardening, reading, cats, playing scrabble and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
