June Ellen Wayment Orton passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the age of 91. She was born on January 20, 1921 in Warren, Utah to Thelma Virginia Thomas and Chester T. Wayment. She attended Weber High School (class of '39) and Weber State College. In 1941 she married Eldon Victor Orton in the Salt Lake Temple.

Church and family were high priorities throughout her life. June and her husband served for many years in the dance program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She spent countless hours teaching dances for festivals culminating in the All Church Dance Festival in 1973. June and Eldon served in the South Dakota Rapid City Mission from 1979 to 1981 and held a one-year calling (1986) in the Church Finance and Records Department. She also served in the Ogden Temple and was dedicated to researching her family history.

From school activities to church events, sports and individual milestones, June was always there to show support for her family and relatives. She never missed an opportunity to send a greeting card, a word of congratulations or a birthday card (with check inside) to her children and grandchildren. Her love and support will be greatly missed.

June was an industrious person who picked cherries and beans in her youth and worked in the North Ogden Canning Factory. She later worked for Weber Central Dairy, Union Pacific Railroad, Attorney Dale Browning, Wahlquist Junior High School, Bonneville High School and Weber School District. In 1976 she was nominated by her co-workers as a candidate for National Educational Secretary of the Year award.

June is survived by sisters, Connie (Jay deceased) Rhees, Lorna (Carl) Barker, and Mildred (Robert deceased) Bird; her children, Judy (Bryce) Olson; Keith (Carmen); Paul (Teresa); Blair (Linda) and Val; as well as 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Jenae Wayment and Diane Wayment; and brother-in-law Sterlin Hollingshead.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Victor Orton; parents, Chester and Thelma Wayment; sisters, Majorie (John) Remington and Helen Hollingshead; brothers, William and Gene; and granddaughter, Chelsea Crowell.

The family appreciates the loving care given by the staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living Center and Advocate Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 3rd Ward Chapel, 386 E.
