Bertha was a daughter of Staten Island builder Francis Henry Skerritt & his wife Hannah Storer.
Bertha along with her mother & siblings arrived in the Port of NYC on 13 Dec 1881 aboard the SS Egypt, joining Francis who had preceded them.
The family originally settled in Brooklyn, leaving some time after 1888 & moving to Port Richmond, Staten Island.
Bertha was born on Bridle Lane in Ripley & her mother Hannah registered the birth, #220, on 15 Oct 1873. Her birth can be found reported in the Dec 1873 Quarter for the Belper Registration District, GRO Index V 7b, Pg. 503.
Bertha had British born siblings Harry b. 1872, Annie b. 1875, Gertrude b. 1877 & Maria aka Marion b. 1879. A US born sister, Ethel b. 1886 in Fulton Landing (aka DUMBO)Brooklyn.
