POQUOSON - Ernest Lee Ferguson, 73, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson for 72 years, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at his home in Newport News.

Mr. Ferguson graduated in 1953 from Poquoson High School. He was employed at N.A.S.A., as a supervisor, but his first love was working the water as a waterman. He served as a missionary for the Church of God, and was a member of the World Outreach Worship Center.

Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph James and Alline Freeman Ferguson; and son-in-law, Glen W. Alexander.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Gloria May Geddings Ferguson; a son, Timothy Lee "Tim" Ferguson and wife, Delores; a daughter, Marie Alexander Kehoe and husband, Michael; seven grandchildren, Rachel, Brian, William, Ashley, Amanda, Katie Lee, and Liz; eight great-grandchildren, Dustin, Carter, Glen, Alisson, T. J., Garrett, Aden, and Alline; a brother, Joseph "Arnold" Ferguson; a brother-in-law, David Geddings and wife, Julie; a niece, Tarah; and a nephew, Jonathan.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, by Pastor Bob Collins.
