He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, and retired from N.A.S.A. as a contract specialist after 45 years of service.
Mr. Shaw was faithful member of York Odd Fellows #89, and the Rebekahs #53. He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he was an original member of the Men's Chorus. He loved playing music with his family, snowskiing, going on family trips, gardening, and big family cookouts.
Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his parents, Anna P. and Asa L. Shaw; and a son, Wayne H. Shaw.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Moore Shaw; four children, Glenn Shaw (Kay), Curtis Shaw, Karen Haney (Larry), and James Shaw (Debbie); 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Munger of Amesbury, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by Judson G. Shackleford. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
