POQUOSON - Dr. Molly Netto, 70, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, after a lengthy illness related to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Molly was born in Kerala, India, graduated from the Medical School in Chennai, India, in 1962, and immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1966. She completed Pathology Residency in Rochester, N.Y. She was the chief pathologist at McDonald Army Hospital at Fort Eustis, Va., for 25 years and retired in 2003.

Molly was preceded in death by her parents, Chacko and Mariakutty Matthew; and two sisters, SaraSu and Sara.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Vernon Netto, M.D.; two brothers, Bobby of Charlotte, N.C., and Jacob of Bangalore, India; and several nieces and nephews.

Molly was a lady of great elegance and had a deep passion for life. She was an avid gardener and an accomplished painter. She contributed to numerous charities during her life.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Poquoson, and other times at the home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the church by the Rev. Dr. Bill Wash. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to UNICEF, 125 Maiden Lane, New York, NY 10038, or the ALS Foundation, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855, or to a charity of your choice.
