POQUOSON - Ella Ruth Whiting Rumbough Tiller, 86, died Feb. 8, 2010.

A native of Martin, Ga., she had been a Peninsula resident for the last 67 years where she worked as a nurse at Dixie Hospital.

She was a member of Hampton Roads Baptist Church and served as head of the Women's Missionary Group. She loved knitting and crocheting.

Preceded in death by her husband, James B. Rumbough; her husband, Thomas R. Tiller; and a daughter, Cynthia Maureen Rumbough; survivors include her son, Freddie L. Rumbough of Poquoson; one sister, Velma Bagwell of Lavonia, Ga.; and a grandson, Vincent Lee Rumbough of Hampton and stepson, Thomas Tiller Jr. of Grimstead.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dominion Village of Poquoson and Hospice Community Care for the compassionate care shown to Mrs. Tiller during her illness.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Dr. John Corson. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
