She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Josephine Boulifant Circle, and the Women's Ladies Auxiliary Rescue Squad. Gladys was one of two volunteer women to first drive the ambulance for the Poquoson Rescue Squad. She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and grandmother.
Mrs. Holloway was preceded in death by her husband, Oman Franklin Holloway.
She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie Austin and husband, Bob; three grandchildren, Sharon Hopkins and husband, Gary, Wayne Austin and special friend, Donna and daughter, Shelby, and Diane Dalton and husband, Billy; seven great-grandchildren, Shawn Austin, Aaron Hopkins, Dawn Strauss, Samuel Austin, Casey Dalton, Wyatt Dalton, Kristen Hopkins; a great great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Strauss; a brother, John T. Wallace Jr.; and a sister, Grace Rollins.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, and other times at 118 Lodge Road, Poquoson. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Rita A. Callis. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1294 Poquoson Avenue, or Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad, 830 Poquoson Avenue, both of Poquoson, VA 23662.
