POQUOSON - Robert F. "Bobby" Graham, 64, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 7, 2009, with his family by his side at Duke University Hospital, N.C.

Bobby had a lifelong love of the water, a heritage he acquired from his father, and grandfathers. He was the loving granddad to his grandsons, Jesse and Brett. They brought a special joy to his life. He was a faithful friend to many, and always ready to lend a helping hand. He also had a love for Mathews County where he spent many enjoyable summers with his grandparents.

He retired from N.A.S.A. Langley Research Center after more than 35 years of dedicated service. He held many supervisory positions including Branch Head, Mechanical Support and Utilities Branch, Operations Support Division, and at the time of his retirement he served as the Energy Manager for the Center. He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church for more than 45 years, and held several different positions in the life of the church.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, George W. "Billy" and Mary Jane H. Graham.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Carolyn H. Graham; his dearly loved daughter, Deborah G. Blackstock and husband, David; his two "pride & joy" grandsons, William "Jesse" Blackstock, and Brett Robert Blackstock; a loving sister, Darlene G. Watkins and husband, Vernon E. "Butch"; a niece, Dawn W. Mordica and husband, Jeff and their families; a nephew, Brian E. Watkins and wife, Kristin and their families; and many other special nieces and nephews by marriage.
