POQUOSON - Betty M. Hopkins, 80, a native of Seaford and Poquoson resident for 57 years, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, surrounded by her family.
She was a 1945 graduate of Poquoson High School; a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker; a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and the Sadie Hunt Circle; and among her hobbies were reading, and collecting for her dollhouse.
Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Hopkins; and parents, Madeline and Charles Mills.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda H. Park and husband, Jerry, Nan H. Sothcott, and Bonnie H. Bryan and husband, Mark; four grandchildren, Christopher Aaron Park and wife, Heather, Valerie Lynne Sothcott, Jordan Michelle Bryan, and Lindsay Brooke Bryan; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Gray and Gracie Isabelle Park; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. tonight at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, and other times at 28 Woodland Road, Poquoson. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Bill Wash. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
