Robert L. Henderson, 79, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. He was a native of Newport News and a resident of Hampton for 52 years.
Robert worked for the Newport News Shipbuilding, Dept. X31, and retired in October 1995 after 33 years of service. He was member of the Peninsula Stamp Club.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Bert Burr Henderson, Sr.; mother, Elsie A. Henderson; and his brothers, Charles, Hilland, and B.B. Henderson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie W. Henderson; son, Richard M. Henderson and wife, Sheri; daughter, Nancy E. Lemis; grandchildren, Courtney L. Stearn and husband, Michael, Artie Henderson, Jon-Paul Henderson, and Jeanette Henderson; brother, John F. Henderson and wife, Laura; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm, on Friday, April 20 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 11 am, on Saturday, April 21 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Peninsula Memorial Park.
