Thaddeus Bowman, son of Capt Thaddeus Bowman (1712-1806, of Rev War fame)and Sarah Loring(1715-1747).Thaddeus Bowman (Jr) married Elizabeth Lawrence (1741-1819).Thaddeus Bowman (son of Thaddeus and Sarah (Loring) Bowman) married Elizabeth Lawrence (daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Swain) Bowman), Lexington, Middlesex, Mass. 7 November 1764. He was a twin to Solomon Bowman who died 6 June 1744. They were baptized in Lexington, Middlesex, Massachusetts 13 February 1742/3.
Thaddeus bought land in Princeton, Mass. October 1767; to Winchndon before 1775; dismissed from Lexington church to Winchendon 1776; to Weathersfield, Republic of Vermont before 1790. He and son, Thaddeus, were indebted to the town and on 5 September 1792 the town took the land in Weathersfield to sell for debt. Listed as landholder for 1791 through 1810 censuses and tax lists for 1793 and 1798. Enlisted from Winchindon, Mass. and marched 20 April 1775 to Cambridge in response to attack on Lexington (where his father played a role) and Concord the day before; enlisted 21 August 1777 and marched to Bennington on an alarm; and also enlisted in the fall as part of the Northern Army. He and Elizabeth got to Vermont after the Revolutionary War while it was known as the Vermont Republic, which lasted from 1777 to 1791. Their land was at the junction of Baltimore and Graves Roads in Baltimore (broke away from Cavendish), Vermont, neighbors to the Morse family. Town meetings in Cavendish became too hard to attend because of Hawks Mountain, so a small area broke off and became known as Baltimore. Besides daughter Lucy marrying neighbor Jonas Morse, another daughter Anna married Asa Morse.
