Funeral services for John Pinkney Pritchard, 62, were held Friday afternoon, February 23, from the Goodson Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Meredith.
Mr. Pritchard was born in Hamilton County, Texas on May 16, 1871, and had lived in this county for 22 years. He settled on a farm one mile north on the old Shamrock highway. After leaving the farm he went into the real estate business and in 1912 went into the grocery business.
After quitting the real estate business he sold Saxon cars and then went back into the real estate business.
He was well known here having seen Wellington grow from a promising village into the center of one of the best agricultural sections in the state.
Mr. Pritchard is survived by three children, John Pritchard of Wellington; Jeff Pritchard of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Davenport (Bessie June) Strong of Oklahoma City. Two brothers, Sam Pritchard of Temple and Henry Pritchard of Gorman. Three sisters, Mrs. Claude Burnett of Los Angeles; Mrs. Sam Whittenburg and Mrs. Will Clement.
Also, three children who died before him; Joe Pritchard, Nugent Pritchard and Bertie Pritchard. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: A.B. Breedlove, Joe Compton, Jim Black, Robert Breedlove, Bud Higon and J.L. Anderson.
flower bearers were: Bula Bess Bell, Marianna Scott, Margaret Goforth, Lois Miller.
Interment was made in the Wellington Cemetery by Goodson Funeral Home.
