Travis "Kelton" Hill, Sr, age 74 of Avon Park, Florida, born on 14th of September, 1937 in Avon Park, FL to Joseph Benjamin and Audrey Caraway Hill, died 26th of April, 2012 in Sebring, FL. He was a lifelong resident of Highlands County. Kelton graduated from Avon Park High School where he excelled in football. He later attended the University of Georgia at Athens on a football scholarship. Kelton was a State Farm Insurance Agent for over 41 years; he retired in April of 2010. He was named one of the top agents in the country, and to the Presidents Club. He was also involved in the citrus industry. He was active in various community clubs and organizations including being a charter member of the Sertoma Club of Sebring and the Elks Club. He was a member of the Avon Park City Council and was instrumental in helping to bring South Florida Junior College to Highlands County. Kelton was a longtime supporter of youth and high school sports programs in Highlands County. Kelton was a member of the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan Hartsfield Hill; son, Travis Kelton Hill, Jr; daughter, Kellie Hill Duke (Max) of Avon Park. He leaves 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Kelton was predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters, Irma Hill McCullough and Eloise Hill Sharpe. He leaves a brother, Benjamin Keith Hill. The family will receive friends on Sunday, 29th of April from 2-4:00 PM at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring, Florida (4001 Sebring Parkway). The funeral will be held on Monday, 30th of April at the Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church, 2600 N. Highlands Blvd. in Avon Park. Interment will follow the funeral at Bougainvillea Cemetery in Avon Park. Contributions may be made in his memory to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870.
