Spc. Jason K. Edens, 22, of Franklin, Tenn., died April 26, in Bethesda, Md., of wounds sustained April 15, in Laghman province, Afghanistan, when the enemy attacked his unit with small arms fire. Edens was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas. 2007 Graduate of Franklin High School and attended East Tennessee State University. Recipient of the Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge in addition to numerous other awards and medals. He was an avid motorcyclist, dedicated soldier, and a loving family man who died a hero. Survived by wife of three years, Ashley Stover Edens of Franklin, TN, formerly of Elizabethton, TN; parents, Jim & Jan Edens of Franklin, TN & Janet & Mike Crane of Phenix City, AL; brother, J.R. (Emily Hayes) Edens of Ashland City, TN; grandparent, Lavone Worsham of Springfield, TN; step-sister, Kelly Crane of Tuscon, AZ; mother in law, Sharon Stover of Elizabethton, TN; father in-law, Philip & Linda Stover of Churchill, TN and other loving family members. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Noon Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Blake Berstrom officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will be conducted at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at www.fisherhouse.org or www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
