John M. Chapman, 69, of New Martinsville, WV died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at his home.

John was born May 22, 1941 in Weston, WV the son of the late Bert and Goldie Riggs Chapman.

He was a retired worker of McElroy Coal Company, enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved woodworking and was a member of New Martinsville Church of God.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by brother, Charles Dunham and sisters, Lucille Willoughby and Betty Raber.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Brown Chapman; three sons, John Mark (Sharla) Chapman of Belton, TX, Michael (Donna) Chapman of Louisville, TX and Ted (Tricia) Chapman of Richmond Hill, GA; five daughters, Carrie Ann (Russell) Oberton of Charleston, SC, Kim (Kenny) Coates of Efland, NC, Pam (Mike) Jeffers of New Martinsville, WV, Jill Ingram of Fredrick, MD and Nattllee (Ben) Kitzmann of New York, NY; brother, Bill (Jackie) Chapman of New Martinsville; sister Brenda Chapman of FL; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends were received 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Homes, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where funeral services were held 2 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2010 with Pastor David Snyder officiating.
