Mrs. Ellen N. Snell, 84, died at 10:00 o'clock Friday evening, December 23 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Lan, 1919 First avenue, Marion. She was born in Haverstraw, N.W. [sic], September 16, 1854, and came to Iowa with her parents Nicholas and Margaret Calvert Galagher in 1875. On February 20, 1882, she was married at Winton Junction to William H. Snell, who died in Marion March 20, 1934.
Surviving are four children, LeRoy J., of Center Junction, Harry N. and Mrs. Grace H. Lang of Marion and Nellie M. Gantz of Sioux City. She is survived by a sister, Kate Gallagher of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Edward Snell of Center Junction and James Lang of Marion, and a niece, Bertha Williams of Colville, Wash.
Mrs. Snell was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, and funeral services were held there Monday morning at nine o'clock, conducted by Rev. T.J. McElliott. Burial was made in Oak Shade.
