US Congressman. Born in Savannah, Georgia, he studied law, was admitted to the bar, practiced law in Hyde Park, New York and was Judge of Dutchess County New York, (1830-40). In 1831, he was elected as an Anti-Jacksonian to the Twenty-second Congress and served until 1833. After his term, he returned to his seat as the Judge of Dutchess County New York. In 1840, he retired in New York City, where he lived until his death at age 73.
