Ida Drake Graham was born February 28, 1872, and died June 17, 1920, at the age of 48 years, 3 months and 17 days. Her girlhood days were spent in her old home northwest of Cedar Rapids. As she grew to womanhood, she engaged in teaching in the public schools of Linn County, in which she continued successfully until her marriage to Henry Graham, on March 18, 1903. As they entered life together in the home near Marion, she transferred her efforts to the making of a happy home. In February, 1920, they moved to Marion, where her death occurred. On Wednesday, June 9th, she was taken ill of pneumonia, and altho she received all the aid that human skill could give, it availed not to save her life.
At the age of 12 she was converted, and since then had lived a devoted Christian life. At the time of her death she was a member of the M.E. church of Marion. In her life she tried to win others to be ready for the Master's call. In her death--which came with such short notice--she is still calling, "Be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh".
Besides her husband and son, Orville, she leaves a large circle of relatives and friends whom she will welcome, as one by one they follow.
Funeral services were held in the M.E. church at Marion, conducted by the pastor, Friday afternoon. Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery.
