Funeral services for Eleanor L. (Lampman) Baker, 85, of Chardon, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (St. Rt. 44, 500 ft. south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square), Chardon.
Mrs. Baker died April 30, 2005, at her home in Chardon.
Born Sep. 3, 1919, in East Cleveland, she was a life-long Chardon area resident.
She graduated from Chardon High School in 1937. She attended Ohio State University before graduating from nurses' training at St. Luke's Hospital. She was an active member of the Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon, especially the Women's Fellowship. For many years, she coordinated the church dinners and fundraising activities.
Mrs. Baker worked as a registered nurse for St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland until the early 1950's, when she became the first school nurse at Chardon High School.
Survivors are her husband, George L. Baker, Jr. of Chardon, whom she married Jan. 31, 1947, at Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon; daughters, Martha Baker of Miami, Fla. and Anne (Mike) Greenway of Bend, Ore.; sons, Mark (Shirley) Baker of Munson Township, George (Susan) Baker of Russell Township and Scott (Susan Tolley) Baker of Tempe, Ariz.; sisters, Elizabeth Kramer of Commerce City, Colo. and Ruth Grube of Willoughby Hills; brothers, Robert Lampman of Claridon Township, Kenneth (Helen) Lampman of Mesa, Ariz., Keith (Susan Kirby) Lampman of Madison Township and Ronald (Lou) Lampman of Moultrie, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Mabel (Burnham) Lampman; son, Charles Baker; and brother, Donald Lampman.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert D. Penrod, of the Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon, will officiate the services. Burial will be in Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Women's Fellowship, Pilgrim Christian Church, 202 S. Hambden St., Chardon 44024.
