EDWARD P. RECKER, 96, of Rt. 1, Smithsburg, died Monday morning at the Washington County Hospital.
Born in Wolfsville, he was the son of Josiah and Mary Cline Recker.
He had been a farmer all of his life in the Smithsburg area.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Bowman Recker; four daughters, Mrs. Carrie Benchoff of Smithsburg, Mrs. Mary H. Peiffer and Mrs. Charlotte G. Cross, both of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Josephine E. Shindledecker of Cascade; one son, Teddy Recker; one sister, Mrs. Etta Poole of Frederick; and a number of half-brothers and half-sisters; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. The Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.
