Doris Novaline Barrow was born on May 14, 1920 to Marion Alton Barrow and Mary Elizabeth King Barrow Martin.

She married Olin Howard King on Nov. 1, 1936. They had two children, Marion William King and Joan Delilah King Hamrick. They owned King's Music Shoppe in Tallapoosa, Georgia for many years. Doris also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years. She was a clerk at the Waco Post Office in Waco, Georgia until her retirement.

Olin was also a minister, and Doris worked tirelessly at his side in each of the churches that he pastored by playing the piano or organ and visiting members of the church and community especially during their times of illness or other needs. She continued to be active in church after Olin's death, and she only gave up playing the piano at the age of 80 when her health started failing.

Doris learned to love music at an early age from her father. In addition to being a great pianist and organist, she often sang hymns on the radio with her husband Olin, her children, her sister, and other friends or family members. She greatly loved that radio ministry. She, her daughter, and her sister also formed a trio and sang at many weddings, revivals, funerals and other events over the years.

She spent most of her life living in Haralson County, Georgia and only moved away when her health started failing, and she could no longer live by herself. At that time, she moved to Chipley, Florida to live with her son. She passed away on 31 Dec 2003.

She lived her entire life with the strong Christian values that she was raised with.
