David L. Carlson:
Moved to Manistee in 1960 to manage the J.J. Newberry store in Manistee. He was a longtime resident and active in his community from the beginning. In 2019 Dave left Michigan to spend quality time with his son and daughter in-law in Tigard, Oregon. In December of 2020, David passed away after a full life at the age of 95.
During his life, born in a small town, Morocco IN. to the travels of Navy life as Aviation Gunners Mate 1st Class Petty Officer., David was stationed on the USS Kearsarge CV-33 he was a TBM Avenger turret gunner. After the end of WWII, David begun his work in retail for the J.J. Newberry stores in the Midwest, finally to settle in Manistee, with Wife Jody and raising 3 children, he is survived by daughters, Shelly, Sherry, son Eric. Later married Debbie and with two stepsons, Ty, Lance. David is survived by his children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
