Actress, Model. A popular glamour girl of the late 1940s, she is remembered as Alice from a number of the 'Joe McDoakes' film shorts. Though little is recorded of her early years, she was born Jane Ellen Harker, was a native of the Chicago suburbs, became a Warner Brothers contract player, and made her 1946 silver screen bow in "Her Kind of Man". Jane went on to numerous cinematic appearances including "Deception", "Night and Day", and "Humoresque" (all 1946) while building a following by posing for several 'cheesecake' magazines both domestic and foreign; in 1947 she had her best known film role in "Unfaithful", also was seen in "Love and Learn" and "Possessed", and made the first of her eight appearances as Alice McDoakes opposite George O'Hanlon as Joe. Jane was last seen on screen in the 1948 "So You Want to Build a House" then essentially dropped from view. She lived out her days in Minneapolis.
