ANNA RIIS
DEATH FAST DEPLETING RANKS.
Mrs. Andrew Riss (sic), Another Pioneer Settler, Dead at Jerpen.
With the death of Mrs. Anna Riss, wife of Andrew Riss, at Jerpen Saturday evening Manitowoc county loses another of its pioneers. Mrs. Riss was ill but one short week and death was due in a complication of internal troubles.
Deceased was born in Norway, December 24, 1823 and was married to the husband, who with three children still survives her, in 1853. Four years later the family immigrated to this country and immediately took up their residence in this county, residing continuously in the home where the death occurred Saturday.
The death comes as a sad blow as Mrs. Riss had been in good health until but a short time ago and great preparations had been made for the celebration of the golden anniversary of the couple's wedding which would have taken place this fall.
Beside the husband the three children who survive her are Mrs. M. Sullivan and Mrs. T. Johnson, of Jerpen and Mrs. K. Jome, of Door County.
The funeral will take place from the Jerpen church Wednesday, Rev. Alfsen officiating.
