Vaudeville Entertainer, Tap Dancer and Actress. Mother of Sammy Davis Jr. (1925-1990). Wife of Sammy Davis Sr. (1900-1988). Began performing at age 16 in the chorus line at the Lafayette Theater in Harlem. She worked into the early 1940s, dancing for six years in the chorus line at the Apollo Theatre. She did act but made only one movie with her son, 1966's "A Man Called Adam." She served as advisor to the New York Committee to Celebrate National Tap Dance Day from 1989 until her death. Known as 'Baby Sanchez' in her dancing days.
