Fashion Designer. In 1967 he joined the “Fine Arts Academy” in Milan and though he wanted to be an artist, he was diverted into the world of fashion. In 1970 began to draw for magazines and illustrate fashion collections for Gianni Versace and Giorgio Armani, with whom he continued for the next 11 years, until he broke away and launched his own label in 1983. Charismatic, imaginative, irreverent and interested in pop culture, he was a whimsical designer, who rebelled against the fashion industry and was therefore embarrassed by his own success. Legendary slogans such as, "fashion is a waist of money" were woven into his clothes and earned him the reputation of a rebel which only added to his success. He campaigned for children with AIDS and was a strong activist on environmental issues, until today a part of the Moschino profits is devoted to a non-profit organization founded by Franco Moschino. This organization uses its assets to support various charity projects. He died of AIDS-related complications.
