Sister Frances Billinger
CONCORDIA — Sister Frances Therese Billinger, 78, died Thursday at HCA Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born Feb. 17, 1909, at St. Peter. She entered the Congregation of St. Joseph of Concordia in 1928 and said final vows in 1931. She was a nurse and supervisor at St. John's Hospital, Salina, where she worked for more than 20 years. She also served at St. Joseph's Hospital of Concordia and hospitals at Sabetha and Belvidere, Ill. She retired from health care in 1973 but continued to serve in Salina as a volunteer for the Alert Program. Later in 1973 she moved to the Nazareth Motherhouse at Concordia, where she worked as an assistant in the office of communications until ill health forced her to retire.
Survivors include three sisters, Mathilda Bender of Leoti, Adolphine Wasinger of Westminster, Colo., and Georgine Balmes of Waukegan, Ill. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. today at the Nazarath Motherhouse Chapel, Concordia, the Rev. Steve Letourneau officiating. Burial will be
at the Nazareth Convent Cemetery, Concordia. A wake was 7 p.m. Friday at the Motherhouse Chapel.
