Charles Sluss, the oldest citizen of Luke, Md., died at his home at 6:30 last night after a brief illness. Until a month ago Mr. Sluss was mail carrier for the government between Piedmont and Luke.

Mr. Sluss was born in Shenandoah county, Va., in 1851. He settled in the vicinity of Luke shortly after the Civil War. He was a member of Philos Lodge, I. O. O. F., of Westernport.

He leaves a wife and three children: H. H. Sluss, Elkins, W. Va.; Mrs. Rose Newland and George L. Sluss of Luke. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at St. John's M. E. Church, Piedmont. Interment will be make in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, Philos lodge being in charge.
