Bonnie Hampton, 89, of Hope, formerly of Columbus, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.
Mrs. Hampton retired from Children Inc., where she was a cook for 21 years. She had been a member of Little Dove Church in Thorton, Ky., since 1951 and also was a member of Thorton Union Association.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed & Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery near Taylorsville.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Bartholomew County.
Born in Oscaloosa, Ky., July 13, 1915, Mrs. Hampton was the daughter of Alamander and Sallie Ison Caudill. She married Dewey G. Hampton Aug. 21, 1929, at Uz, Ky.
Survivors include daughters, Wilma Jean Harden of Nashville, Betty Dodd of Taylorsville, Rosa Deal of Indianapolis and Brenda Forgey of Columbus; sons, Darrel Hampton of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Bill Hampton of Rugby, and Dale and Ronnie Hampton, both of Columbus; sisters, Ada Dixon of Indianapolis and Elsie Dixon of Cumberland, Ky.; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Oct. 15, 1967; a daughter, Zamilee Banta; a son, Herbert Hampton; seven infant children; two brothers; and six sisters.
