While at the breakfast table one morning my Granddaddy heard the mail truck, he looked out the window and here was this little kitten running beside the mail truck meowing. This little kitten couldn't have been more than a month old. The little scraggley kitten was so weak, his meow so sad. My Granddaddy said, this can't happen so he went outside and scooped up the little kitten. I lived a couple hours away and was on the phone with my Grandmama and she was telling me about this poor little kitten. They had made him a bed in the garage, given him some canned tuna and were going to take him to the humane society. A few days later I was speaking on the telephone with them again and I asked about the kitten. They had taken him to the vet and had him checked out. The vet thought the kitten was about a month old and was in fairly good shape now that he had been fed, he also got a shot that day. The conversation went from when we take him to the humane society to "if" we take him to the humane society. A few days later I was again speaking to my Grandmama on the phone and I had asked about the kitten. Grandmama told me they had put a matress pad cover on top of the washing machine in the laundry room and that's where the kitten was now sleeping at. I asked what his name was and Grandmama said his name is Sport. I went to visit my Grandparents a few days later and saw this little kitten. He was bright eyed, energetic, and was happy as he could be. He had toys to play with, plenty of food to eat, a warm place to sleep and medical attention when he needed it. His head looked big compared to his body and his little neck didn't look like it could support his head. He had the longest tail I've ever seen. As time continued he grew into a beautiful cat. He was very vocal and talked all the time.

Sport had a lot of adventure in his life. There was the time my Uncle was going to train Sport to walk on a leash and Sport flipped out and broke the leash and went and hid. My Uncle looked for him for quite a while. Sports favorite activity was to lay in the sun at the patio door and watch the birds and the squirrels.

Sport lived quite a while for a cat, almost 20 years. He led the life of luxury. Everyone should be so fortunate to have the life the Grandcat had.
