John W. Kochan, 69 (photo), of Francis Creek, died Tuesday morning at Maple Crest Sanatorium, Whitelaw.

Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday at Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Rev. John Haen will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Kochan was born Dec. 26, 1891, in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late Anton and Anna Siebert Kochan. He was educated at St. Ann and Palm Grove schools in the township. He learned the carpenter trade as a young man, later working with Louis Mueller, contractor, at Denmark until 1942. He was then employed by Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., retiring in 1953. He married Rose Delsmann May 20, 1924, at Francis Creek where the couple resided. He was a member of St. Ann Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Donald of Herman Road and Ralph of Manitowoc; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Lambert and Mrs. Ronald Burish of Manitowoc; two brothers, Ben of Francis Creek and Leo of Rt. 2., Two Rivers; four sisters, Sister M. Leonilla of Holy Family Convent, Alverno, Miss Cecelia Kochan and Mrs. Elmer Teetz of Milwaukee and Mrs. Leo Crechard of Manitowoc; and 13 grandchildren. A brother, Anton, preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus and at 9:15 p.m. by the Holy Name Society and Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.
