United States Army General. During World War II he was a platoon leader and company commander in the 1st Infantry Division. Wounded in action in North Africa, he served at the landings at Salerno and Anzio. He also served in the Korean War, in Germany, Greenland and in Vietnam. Upon returning to the United States, he became Director of Distribution and Transport with the Army Material Command. His last command was Commandant Industrial College of Armed Forces. He was decorated with 2 Silver Star Medals, 2 Distinguished Service Medals, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and 3 Army Commendations.
