Musician. Born in Texas City, Texas, he was fiddle player and one of the most influential musicians of the Western swing music era. In 1935, he formed the big band "Cliff Bruner and His Texas Wanderers", which recorded on the Decca and Mercury record labels. His songs had a special southern characteristic appeal with hits such as "It Makes No Difference Now", "Sorry", "Kelly Swing" and "When You're Smiling". The group disbanded in the 1950s, but Bruner continued to play western swing music with his trio into the 1970s. In 1984, his trio was featured in the Sally Field movie "Places in the Heart".
