Doris Stantial
Dec. 12, 1926 - July 9, 2008

Doris Cunningham was born in the front room of her family home in Guilford, Maine. She was the daughter of Jim and Mildred Cunningham. She had one sister, the late Mary Wider. Doris loved growing up in Maine and enjoyed spending time with her cousins and her good friend Pauline (Skinner) Jarvis.

She graduated from Guilford High School with the Class of 1946. She then went on to attend Nursing School at Eastern Maine General in Bangor, Maine, graduating with the Class of 1949. Since then, Doris has rarely missed her annual reunions with her beloved classmates and stayed very close to the "49-Girls" throughout these many years.

In 1950, Doris married Bill Stantial and they moved to Massachusetts. In 1953, they welcomed their daughter Ann, and in 1956, they moved to Wilmington, Mass. Doris went on to become a Clinical Nurse at Hanscom Air Force Base and enjoyed a fulfilling thirty year career. She retired in December of 1991.

In 1995, she moved in with her daughter Ann and her son-in-law Joseph Carey. During much of this time, she was happily involved with the Wilmington Senior Center. Doris was also an avid Red Sox fan.

Doris truly loved her grandchildren Kayt Holland, Jesse Holland (and wife Kerry), and Carli Holland. She would light up with "that smile" when she heard "Gram-gram" from her great-grandchildren Victoria and Nicholas Crawford, Luke and Caleb Holland, or Brayden Moran.

Doris will be sadly missed by her family and her friends.
