From the Grand Island, NE. "Independent" Newspaper:
Rod Beins, 47, of Aurora died Wednesday, a little more than a week after an accident involving a family horse that was being shod.
Brother-in-law Bill Gowen of Aurora said Beins was holding a horse while a farrier was shoeing the horse on July 6. The farrier was holding one of the horse's legs between his legs and was facing away from Beins when the accident happened. Apparently, the horse swung its head and struck Beins' head.
The Aurora man then fell and hit his head again on a concrete floor.
Beins was taken first to the Aurora Hospital, then on a helicopter life flight to Bryan/LGH West in Lincoln where he underwent surgery. He died Wednesday at Bryan/LGH West.
