JARECKI--Mrs. Jarecki dies; funeral services on Thursday
Mrs. Stephen Jarecki, Platte county pioneer and lifetime resident of this community, died at 6 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's hospital after several weeks' illness. She was 83.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic church and burial will be in St. Stanislaus cemetery at Duncan.
The body will lie in state at the McKown Funeral chapel after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Rosary will be prayed there at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday by St. Theresa sodality and at 8 p.m. by relatives and friends.
Mrs. Jarecki, the former Angela Tryba, daughter of the late John and Anna Slusarski Tryba, was born in Platte county in May, 1879.
She was married to Stephen Jarecki on Nov. 13, 1894 at St. Stanislaus Catholic church, Duncan. They lived on a farm west of Columbus for a number of years, and the last 40 years have resided three miles south of Columbus. They observed their 65th wedding anniversary last fall.
Mrs. Jarecki was a member of St. Anthony parish and St. Theresa sodality.
Surviving are her husband; four sons, Dominic, Alois and Stan of Columbus, Emery of Lindsay; two daughters, Mrs. John (Adelaide) Podraza and Mrs. Tony (Elizabeth) Zabawa, sr., of Columbus; two brothers, Frank Tryba of Los Angeles and Louis Tryba of Duncan; 32 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Among the grandchildren are five religious, all members of the Order of St. Francis; the Rev. Fr. Reynold Jarecki, St. Joseph Friary, Sturtevant, Wis.; Sr. Joette Podraza, Waupun, Wis.; Sr. Imelda Jarecki, Lincoln; Sr. Dominic Jarecki and Sr. Daniel Jarecki, both of Colorado Springs.
Mrs. Jarecki was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thomas and Andrew Tryba; four sisters, Mrs. John Sumovicz, Mrs. John M. Boruch, Mrs. Veronica Kava and Mrs. Mathew Jarecki.
